Since it’s conception, the band (featuring ex-members of the defunct indie giant MINERAL) has become well known for it’s “intense and always explosive live shows” (Austin Chronicle.) Their sound has been described as a unique fusion of passion and raw energy that creatively blends powerful songwriting with complex instrumentation; often mixing melody with chaos, producing a dramatic result of groundbreaking music.

AMERICA IS WAITING embody a progressive style that is innovative and original. The band has been compared to a variety of unconventional bands such as: Fugazi, The Jesus Lizard, The EX, Shellac, Nirvana, Drive Like Jehu, Girls Against Boys and Sonic Youth. Noticeably distinguished by heavy rhythms, powerful vocals and manic guitars; the band has gained notoriety for their extreme and often unruly live performances.
AMERICA IS WAITING has shared the stage with many remarkable bands including: The Faint, …Trail of Dead, Guided By Voices, Q and Not U, The Icarus Line, Melt Banana, The Ex, Erase Errata and Pretty Girls Make Graves. Most recently, the band has released its debut EP “In the Lines” recorded in Dallas by John Congleton of The PaperChase. The recording is a fresh, powerful and emotionally static seven-track effort that pushes musical boundaries to an indefinable limit. It’s currently in high demand and already in it’s second pressing, only three months after the release date. In addition, the band has recently completed an extensive East Coast tour with ….Trail of Dead. Follow up West Coast tours are presently being planned for 2004.

AMERICA IS WAITING is a reaction to that which has become insignificant and stale. A reaction to those who inbreed music and reproduce crops of commercialized pawns. It is time to tear away our delicate skin, and expose us to the truth. It’s time to shed hypocrisy and breathe in creativity. Popular culture thrives on what it’s fed, so let’s fill the gluttons until their bellies burst. Let us lift our heads and scream in the streets. We are the now! We are the new! This is the beginning! This is the end!
