Beck's new album Modern Guilt, produced with Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton, will be released July 8th in the U.S. on DGC Records. "Gamma Ray" will be the first single released to Alternative radio on June 24th. The new album contains 10 new songs, and with the exception of last year's Grammy-nominated, digital-only single "Timebomb", Modern Guilt is the first new material Beck has written since the prolific stretch that produced 2005's platinum Guero and 2006's universally acclaimed The Information.

    Beck

Modern Guilt is a tightly assembled group of songs that range in lyrical tone from introspection and social commentary to off the cuff wordplay and lighthearted humor. Musically, the album's ten tracks vacillate between economy and experimentation, hybrid and pop classicism, while consistently manifesting Beck and Danger Mouse's shared interest in psych-rock, folk, electronic minimalism and orchestration.

"Chemtrails" will not be the first single from the album. Chemtrails is a term being used by a growing number of people who believe that many trails being left by planes are not harmless vapour trails but are potentially dangerous because they are said to contain barium, aluminium and other toxic substances and are being used for weather modification and military purposes.

By calling his new song Chemtrails, Beck is certain to find himself plenty of new fans from the ranks of those protesting about what they see in the sky.

"Chemtrails" is a genre-bending tour de force that showcases Beck and producer Danger Mouse's shared affection for late '60s psych-pop as Beck takes his songwriting and performing skills in yet another bold, unforeseen and as always captivating new direction.

Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show has already premiered Chemtrails, and the album is being released on Interscope in the US and on XL Records in the rest of the world.

Beck came to fame with his single Loser in 1994. His most recent album, "The Information," came out in October 2006.

Beck is about to embark on a tour of the UK and Europe, followed by a number of US headline and festival appearances, culminating in Beck's biggest hometown headline show to date, September 20th at the Hollywood Bowl.
