Bertell to release Goin Hard

From college basketball player to the studio. From homelessness to Capitol Records, Bertell has experienced a true rollercoaster ride to a destination of dreams and accomplishments. Bertell is a 24-year old Houston native, who understood the notion “those who do not try have already failed! Those who never give up will never fail!” Hence, super-producer Bryan-Michael Cox recognized that passion and talent from Bertell and is now working side by side to executive produce Bertell’s debut album Goin Hard, available May 4th.

Goin Hard features the hot street single “She Bad” featuring Bun B and the album’s first official single “Beat it Up.” Both songs have been hitting the airwaves hard and featured on a slew of websites including Myspace Music, AOL The Boom Box, SingersRoom, Onsmash and Global Grind just to name a few.

Hailing from Houston, TX 24- year old Bertell has a soulful sound reminiscent of Jodeci’s urban vibe, with twists of R. Kelly and Usher. Goin Hard will be releasing on 5/4 and will prove to be the modern day sound R&B has been missing. For this impressive debut, Bertell has collaborated with super producer Bryan-Michael Cox to create the entire project. Bertell's latest song "Beat It Up" is getting major love in the South and Mid-west.

The streets of southwest Houston gave us a force to be reckoned with on the R&B music scene, Bertell Young. This 24-year-old budding star, known by his fans as Bertell, is recognized in the south as one of the hardest working young artists in the industry. It’s through his humble beginnings and overcoming homelessness and adversity that we can truly hear the soul and heart of a genuine artist. This oneman band has a soulful sound that is reminiscent of Jodeci’s urban vibe, with a twist of R. Kelly, the likeability and talent of Usher and tenacity of Lil’ Wayne all balled up into one. Bertell has collaborated with top artists and producers in the music industry including Bun B of the legendary rap group UGK, Adonis Strophshire, Johnta Austin, Royal Bayyan, Tim Owens, Billy Hume, Lil' Flip, Dem Franchise Boyz and Grammy winning producer Bryan-Michael Cox. He has provided urban, sexy sounds as the opening act for R. Kelly, Bobby Valentino, Trey Songz, Scarface, Lil Flip, Mike Jones, Bun B, Chamillionaire and many more. Bertell has graced the stage of the world famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NY, received over 1500 radio spins across the South, Midwest and Northeast United States, sold over 18,000 copies of his R & B mixtape “Street Therapy Volume1” and hosted video shows all while being the CEO of his very own label, Upscale Music Group. And his reach goes even further than domestic cities garnering fans in Germany, the United Kingdom, Dubai and other countries across the globe.

Recently signed to Capitol Records in a joint venture between Merovingian Music, Upscale Music Group and Grammy award winning producer, Bryan-Michael Cox’s production house, Blackbaby Inc.
