Biffy Clyro will give fans their first taste of new recordings in over two years with the release of the download-only single semi-mental on 25 December. The band will also stream two further tracks from their forthcoming album ‘Puzzle’ (released late spring 2007) on the same day, exclusively on www.14thfloorrecords.com.
‘Puzzle’ is the eagerly anticipated fourth album from Biffy Clyro, and their first for 14th Floor Records. Recorded in Vancouver with producer GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, System of a Down, Rush), the album is the sound of the most consistently thrilling and inventive band of recent years finally realising their full potential, and is destined to become the most important British rock record of 2007. Featuring the band’s trademark crunching, off-kilter riffs and vocals veering between anguished screams and delicate harmonies, ‘Puzzle’ sees the trio refining a panoply of ideas into an accomplished collection of songs, marrying irresistible hooks with hard-hitting instrumentation.
2007 is set to be the biggest year in the band’s history, which they will kickstart by headlining the prestigious Kerrang! Tour throughout January, a 12-date reign of chaos across the UK that will take in a hometown show at Glasgow Barrowlands on 23 January and end at the Astoria in London on 27 January.
