Known for breaking and molding artists, especially in the north east regions, Brick Records partners with fellow beantown label Sun Moon (Edan, Electric, Project Move) to introduce the world to it’s newest finding...Boycott Blues. Following in the tradition of Edo. G, this Roxbury native comes with that ‘hood politics’ fire on his first single. The aptly titled “CHKABLOAWW” is anything but timid or tame as Blues flexes ghetto philosophies and street tales that are more alarming and cautionary than just cookie cutter street boasts. The aggressive production from up and coming beat smith K.T. ensures the track is a mixshow anthem.
“Da Math” finds ‘Ya Boy ‘Cott’ teaming up with his main producer, the uber talented Insight (Electric, Y Society) and adding long time “Tribe Called Quester” Consequence. The result is another certified banger with complex word play complete with Sight’s patented thick basslines and chopped drums. The exclusive remix is just as good but gives a different vibe as Insight slows it down and reworks the track to create a totally new feel and consequently (pun intended) totally new song.
The single is rounded out by the uptempo and uplifting “A Will & A Way” as Insight, again on the boards, provides Blues with the perfect sound canvas to illustrate his uplifting messages about not settling for what you have been given and striving for something better through positive means and outlets.
Perfect music for those hot Boston summer BBQ’s. Boycott Blues full length album “Irony” produced by Insight coming this summer.
For fans of Insight, Saigon, Guilty Simpson, Skyzoo, Reks
