From the early days of the straight Brian Auger Jazz trio it was clear Brian was destined for great things. In the mid to late 60s there was no bigger live draw on the London club scene than Brian Auger’s various bands. Auger also recorded a string of singles and albums that capture the era perfectly be it with Julie Driscoll on the hits “This Wheel’s On Fire” and “Indian Rope Man” or solo on the funky “Foolkiller” and “Black Cat.” As the 60s came to an end, Brian moved on, forming his Oblivion Express and fusing jazz, rock and funk to create a whole new sound. This period saw Brian at his most creative and these sounds have influenced many key funk musicians.
“Get Auger-nized” is the perfect starting place for anyone wanting to experience Brian Auger’s music. The first disc contains all the key tracks from the 60s period, whereas disc two features Auger’s finest jazz and funk material from the 70s period.
