In Their First Film Documentary, The Socially Outspoken And Critically Praised GRAMMY Winners From Puerto Rico Take Viewers Along On A South American Journey "Without A Map" That Looks To Shed The Trappings of Modern Celebrity In Order To Find The True Indigenous Music, Culture And Spirit of A Continent.
Also Continuing Their Support For The Chart-Topping Album Los de Atrás Vienen Conmigo, Look For CALLE 13 To Perform July 11th At Central Park Summer Stage In New York As Headliners Of The 10th AnniversaryLatin Alternative Music Conference. Following Subsequent European Tour Dates, Residente & Visitante Will Then Return Again For A Premiere Screening Of "Sin Mapa" At The New York International Latino Film Festival On July 29th.
With a truly innovative fusion that merges unrivaled lyrical wit with urban, alternative, and a wide array of Latin music influences, the Puerto Rican brothers known as Calle 13 quickly rocketed to stardom as a leading generational voice for Spanish speaking youth throughout the world. The group's rapidly escalating fame saw lyrisist/frontman Residente and musical director/ production genius Visitante landing on the biggest stages in many of Latin America's most glamourous cities. But once the stage lights had dimmed and with the deafening crowd noise fading behind them as they were quickly moved on to the next sold-out concert, the intellectually hungry duo realized they were missing out on the opportunity to truly understand the unique culture of the continent in which they were already finding so musch musical inspiration. As a result, the duo made a comittement to their own artisitc growth and decided to spend more than a month traveling on their own to discover the true indigenious culture, music and peoples of South America.
Set for release by Sony Music Latin on DVD and through iTunes on July 28th, "Sin Mapa" (Without a Map) is Calle 13's documentary experience of this journey of enlightenment through the less traveled mountains, rivers and villages of Peru, Colombia, Argentina and more in a quest to infuse their artistry with a broader global understanding.
While "Sin Mapa" is sure to vault the duo into the ranks of respected young Latin filmmakers, their groundbreaking music of course remains their passport for world-travel, with critic's still praising their chart-topping latest album Los de Atrás Vienen Conmigo (The Ones Left Behind Are Coming With Me), and its most recent single "La Perla". The epic length single finds the legendary Rubén Blades joining the GRAMMY & multiple LATIN GRAMMY winning duo for an impassioned portrait of community (even in the midst of poverty) and a reminder of what we should still treasure most in life.
