Chevelle to release Sci-Fi Crimes

Chevelle has set September 8th as the release date for its fifth studio album, titled "Sci-Fi Crimes". The first single, "Jars", which the band has been playing on recent live dates, impacts Rock on June 30th. The disc follows up 2007's "Vena Sera".

Although there's been rumors that this is the heaviest Chevelle album yet, drummer Sam Loeffler told The Pulse of Radio he has a different view.

I think that production-wise it's different in that we used a lot more vintage amplifiers and things like that," he said. "I don't know that it's really a heavier record than any of our others. I actually think it's probably the opposite. But it's certainly still driving, melodic, hard rock music.

We have spent a lot of time making these songs something different from past records without losing the core of our passion. It's still what drives us as musicians."

The group will be teaming up this summer for the "Stimulate This!" tour with Staind, Shinedown and Halestorm, beginning July 1st in Peoria.
