Each originally destined to be a solo artist they came together somewhat accidentally under the guidance of Wyclef Jean, who is also the groups executive producer and releases them on his own Boogabasement Records.

This is the self-entitled debut album from Robby Pardlo, Claudette Ortiz, and Ryan Toby, who make up the group City High. Each originally destined to be a solo artist they came together somewhat accidentally under the guidance of Wyclef Jean, who is also the groups executive producer and releases them on his own Boogabasement Records.
City High is an album of fabulously written tracks, songs like '15 Will Get You 20', about being attracted to someone who is way too young but looks much older, and 'Sista' which is a guy telling his friend that he's dating his sister, each contains a message of sorts. The songs aren't sermons though, the lyrics are thought provoking and have a depth not found in many songs released these days.
At least one band member is involved in the writing on 12 of the albums 14 tracks, and with writing and production from Wyclef and Jerry 'Wonder' Duplessis you can expect eclectic mix of tracks which will have you hooked for the 56 minutes that the album lasts. Claudette, Ryan, and Robby sound great together, as if they were destined to be that way, the first single from City High 'What Would You Do' was the catalyst that finally brought the three together and in the words of Wyclef when he produced it 'this is a hit'. You can check this single out if you have MTV or MTV Base as it is on rotation on both stations.
It's refreshing to hear an album which doesn't have tracks around the normal themes, it's well produced and is a welcome addition to my, and I'm sure most music collections.
