Communiqué Crosses Your Heart - A Crescent Honeymoon

Communiqué are a new band from Oakland California that spent 2002 developing their sound after the end of their other musical projects. The band is made up of veterans of the fertile bay area underground scene surrounding 924 Gilman, the all-ages punk club in Berkeley California.

"A Crescent Honeymoon" is the brilliant debut of a fully realized band positioned to make an impact with listeners. This EP is six songs of clever intricate rock-pop reminiscent of the soaring, heart-wrenched melodies of the 80's with nods to The Smiths, The Fixx and Roxy Music. Communiqué are also more than that. They're a unit made up of five personalities with one maverick music idea, exemplifying the punk ethos by stripping away pretense from their music and performances.

Their voices and musicianship deliver the honest song itself unencumbered by the hollow clichés many bands hide their songs behind. Lyrically they tackle emotional and political ideas with sharp wit and eloquence. Communiqué can be compared to bands like Jets To Brazil, Saves The Day, and The Anniversary in spirit but are leaders themselves, not followers.

Mixing on Communiqué's new LP for 2004 is finishing up [end January]. The as-of-now untitled LP is set for a release in May on California's Lookout! Records.
