Danny Wright 'An Intimate Christmas' album

After 15 years and over 4 million albums sold, Danny Wright is poised to take on the rest of the world.

Revered among savvy musical tastemakers, Danny is a pianist and composer who has defied trends and narrow genre classification by cultivating a style that is uniquely his own. Over the span of 20 sterling independent recordings, he has displayed creative bravery and a natural gift for crafting timeless melodies. On his Atco/Atlantic debut, An Intimate Christmas puts both to the test with remarkable results.

In addition to heartfelt interpretations of "Silent Night," "White Christmas," and "Joy to the World," among others, Danny also offers four original compositions that rest comfortably alongside such seasonal classics.
"My intention was not to write songs that would compare to the classics," Danny says of the collection. "You don't set out to write 'Silent Night.' You can't calculate magic. It just happens. These songs spilled from my heart and onto my piano. They eventually took the shape of songs that I believe capture the intangible warmth of the season."

In addition to being his major-label debut, An Intimate Christmas is also Danny's first holiday release in seven years. He is happily anticipating the opportunity to share it in a live setting.

"There's something incredibly special about playing this kind of music for an audience," he says. "The love and sense of inner-peace you feel among the people in the room is extraordinary. It is unlike any other experience in the world."

When Danny takes to the stage for a series of shows this season to celebrate the release of An Intimate Christmas, he will perform on a Steinway piano -- as he has for the past 15 years. In fact, he is proudly known as a "Steinway Artist," with the quintessential piano manufacturer sending its instrument wherever Danny is playing.

"Of course, there's no better instrument for a musician to play," he says. "My connection with Steinway is one that I'm eternally pleased and grateful for. It feels good to have had their support throughout the years. I'm delighted that it will continue as I embark on this new adventure in my career."
Danny's career is proof that perseverance and talent are an unbeatable combination. In an industry where the term "grassroots success" is coined to the point of cliché, he has proven it to be undeniably true. He is a rare self-made man in the music business, earning his status without the benefit of a manager or an agent. He has never been on television or radio, yet he has gained the support of heavy-hitting retailers like Best Buy, Transworld, Anderson, Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Tower, and he has extensively toured the U.S. and Canada.

"There have been lean years, tough years, and years when the fight to be heard has been exhausting," he says. "But there have also been years of immeasurable support from people -- both within the industry and outside of it. That has made every moment worthwhile. I've had the chance to do what few can. I've made music on my own terms. I've followed my creative muse, and people have responded well to it. There is no greater validation that to reveal what's in your heart and have it embraced by so many."

At this point in Danny's life and career, joining forces with Atco/Atlantic was a logical choice. In addition to An Intimate Christmas, the musician has also recorded Real Romance which is planned for release shortly before Valentine's Day. Both albums were cut in an astonishing three days at the famed Hit Factory studio in New York with the legendary Neil Dorfsman (Sting, Eric Clapton, Barbra Streisand, Yo-Yo Ma) as engineer and mixer.
"I feel like I'm at the start of an exciting new journey," Danny says. "I can't wait to see where it takes me. Right now, I'm ready to take on the world."
