Does It Offend You, Yeah? 'You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into' album

Does It Offend You, Yeah? never intended to be an actual band. Nor was their name chosen on purpose. "We just did the tracks and decided to setup this MySpace account so we could just send a link and then people could have a listen," singer James Rushent told Spinner when they stopped by the Interface. "Then we switched on the TV and Ricky Gervais was on there and he said, 'Does it offend you, yeah?' If we'd known that we were going to end up doing this, we probably would have picked a better name."

The band from Reading, Berkshire is made up of four members: James Rushent (vocals, bass), Dan Coop (synths), Morgan Quaintance (guitar, synth, live vocal on "Let's Make Out"), and Rob Bloomfield (drums).

The single "Dawn Of The Dead" now impacting Alternative, is from their debut CD, "You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into" (Columbia-spring release).

We wear all our influences on our sleeves," says singer/ bassist James Rushent. "And we're not ashamed."

Does It Offend You, Yeah? have been compared to dance-oriented acts like Daft Punk, Justice and Digitalism. However, NME has also compared them to bands like Muse, and !!! due to their heavier, more 'live' sound. The group is known for their raucous live shows, which often end in stage diving and broken instruments.

They have remixed songs for major acts such as Muse and Bloc Party and supported The Cribs on the NME Awards Tour, which took place at venues across the UK and Ireland at the start of 2008.

The band revealed the origins of their name as being from British sitcom The Office. In an interview with NME.com, synth player Dan Coop explained: "Everybody thinks the name is some kind of statement but it's a quote from David Brent in an episode of 'The Office'. "When me and James Rushent first started writing music together we decided to put it up on MySpace. We needed a name to put as our profile name so just put what was the first thing that was said on TV, we switched it on and Ricky Gervais said 'Does it offend you, yeah? My drinking?' so we just went with that. No thought went into it whatsoever."

Does It Offend You, Yeah? opened for Nine Inch Nails for part of the their 2008 North American Tour.
