Duncan Sheik's Biography

On January 27th, Victor Records will release Duncan Sheik’s new album, Whisper House, his first studio album since the 2006 critically acclaimed White Limousine. Following in the footsteps of the success of his 8-time Tony Award Winning Musical, Spring Awakening, Duncan has crafted a collection of songs from his newest musical Whisper House, tentatively scheduled to come to Broadway in the Fall of 2009. The story centers around an 11-year-old boy named Christopher who is sent to live with his eccentric 40-year old aunt Lilly who runs a lighthouse on the New England Coast. It is 1942 and the boy’s father has been killed in the war and his mother is unable to care for him in the aftermath of her husband’s death. Lilly has a hired hand at the lighthouse, a Japanese man named Yasujiro, and Christopher’s suspicions about him set in motion the series of events that constitute the narrative of the show. As the plot unfolds, each track brilliantly captures the emotions and thoughts of the characters.
