Atlanta born solo artist Everett Young creates songs that are beguilingly organic. The layers slide so comfortably around each other that the tracks themselves appear deceptively simple.

    Everett Young

He composes the kind of music where something new is heard every time it??s listened to. It??s the hallmark of a confident craftsman.

Young has a dynamic, clear voice which is equally matched by superior song arrangement and memorable lyrics. His strong vocal style is filled with phrasing and colour. The hooks are natural and effective. His guitar rifts have a distinctive deep fried Southern American flavour. The entire ensemble of musicians is top of their game. It all comes together in a way where no one thing sticks out above any other.

Writing big-production moody, countrified pop songs is a natural process for Young. His ability to marry big commercial sounds with haunting orchestral productions and ultra-singable melodies is the mark of experience.

In the last four years Young has produced and engineered albums for several artists, including Atlanta band The Sightseers and Tallahassee??s Satori Bomb. Young also produced a beautiful, Nick Drake-esque album by the late Laura Pooley. A song Young co-wrote with Pooley appears on The Ground. Since completing The Ground, Young has written a dramatic and melancholy string arrangement, calling to mind the unmistakably international sound of the 1960s James Bond soundtracks of John Barry, for a song on the forthcoming project by Steven Satterfield, formerly of Atlanta??s indie-pop band Seely.

The Ground is Young??s second solo LP. It is the product of over a decade working as a musician, producer and singer. He isn??t just telling stories in his tracks ?? he??s selling the whoe shebang. You know he??s been there. Where others bludgeon listeners with the downside of life, Young handles similar themes with a deft and light touch. It??s all down to his wry humour. The humour and the delivery are some of the basic factors which make his tracks so catchy, engaging and enjoyable.

Young has always enjoyed more success in the UK and Europe than he has in his native America. The Ground is set to see that change. With a current malaise with cloned nu-metal sounds, more homespun rock is making something of a comeback. Young has timed his release to perfection.
