UK dance production team Eye Witness have produced a new pop dance version of the classic ballad 'I've Never Been To Me' featuring the original vocalist Charlene Oliver. In 1977 the original song reached number 97 on the Hot 100 singles chart. In 1982, Tampa, Florida disc jockey Scott Shannon, then at WRBQ, started playing it. Audience reaction was impressive, and spread quickly, resulting in the song being reissued by Charlene's label. The single reached Number 3 in the USA, and Number 1, by June 1982, in the UK. Eye Witness have a taken a new direction with the song made famous by the film Priscilla Queen Of The Desert and more recently Shrek 3. We gave "I've Never Been To Me" music video by Eye Witness a listen and yeah, it's a nice song (August, 2008). An oldie but didnot make it to 'goodie'. Apparantly not enough attention to make it to the top. A pity...
