Fabio Musta 'Passport' album

Babygrande Records is pleased to announce the signing of Italian producer Fabio Musta, for his debut album "Passport," due out on May 12th, 2009. Fabio is a veteran of the hip-hop scene in Italy, and has spent years working with MCs from all over the globe. A truly international effort, "Passport" features guest appearances from Jeru The Damaja, Termanology, T3 of Slum Village, Guilty Simpson, Reks, Strong Arm Steady, Mainflow & many many more. "With this release, Babygrande will have released projects with artists and producers from France, Germany and Italy. This project is a natural extension of the international partnerships that Babygrande has been exploring over the last 5 years, and Fabio is a perfect candidate for such a partnership," says Chuck Wilson, Babygrande's CEO.

With his finger on the pulse of the local Italian scene, and never more than a few "clicks" away from the U.S. indie hip-hop scene, Fabio Musta is perfectly positioned to push the borders and boundaries of hip-hop, with "Passport."

Fabio Musta (italian producer) has more than a decade of experience in the music business:since the early 90s he began producing hip hop tracks with the use of samplers, in 1995 he co-founded Dcp (Dentro al Covo Produzioni). In that same year, he produced some mix tapes, produced some albums for various artists and launched two of his own, "Questione di mentalità" and DCP Ep" ,both receiving critical acclaim.his success led to collaborations with other artists and to concerts nationwide,showcasing his skills as a producer and MC.

2001 was the year of “Qualcos’altro … oltre” , this album was the expression of his new artistic vein but, due to the poor distribution and the lack of understanding of his new sound, it didn't do well as his first two albums.Soon after he met Soulshine, a very talented soul singer, and with her realized "Il tempo scorre", playing on radio stations nationwide. From 2004 to 2005 he took part in the 3 compilations "Street Flava" from the hip hopshow "STREET STYLE" ( on Radio Italia Network) and he even recorded the theme song of it.

At the same time, putting aside the role of MC, he became a professional sound engineer, this helped him to create his own recording studio and increase the quality of his music. "Octoplus" album was relased in 2007 by Paura on Relief Records. It was enterely produced, recorded and mixed by Fabio Musta in his own studio.The very good feedback of this album opened up new horizons to Fabio, working on alot of projects, most of all his new album, featuring international artists.

Fabio Musta (produttore italiano), vanta un'esperienza musicale che va ben oltre l'ultimo decennio: dai primi anni 90 inizia l'approccio alla musica hip hop e all'uso dei campionatori che lo porterà a fondare nel 1995 la D.c.p (Dentro al Covo Produzioni). In questo periodo, oltre a vari mixtape e produzioni per la propria crew, realizza "Questione di Mentalità" e "DCP Ep", riscuotendo notevole successo sia da parte del pubblico che da parte della critica di settore. Proprio grazie a questi lavori, Fabio varca i confini della vivace provincia di Salerno, e partecipa a numerosi concerti e collaborazioni in ambito nazionale, che mettono in evidenza le sue doti di producer ed MC.

Nel 2001 esce “Qualcos’altro … oltre” , espressione della nuova vena artistica di Musta, sonorità più raffinate in un album che non viene immediatamente recepito, anche a causa della scarsa distribuzione del disco. Di lì a breve ci sarà l'incontro con Soulshine, cantante soul dalle notevoli capacità vocali, con la quale Fabio stabilisce da subito una grande intesa musicale; con lei nel 2003 realizza “Il tempo scorre”, in rotazione su vari network nazionali, e partecipa tra il 2004 ed il 2005 alle tre compilation “Street Flava" del programma hip hop "STREET STYLE" (in onda su Radio Italia Network), di cui realizza anche la sigla.

Accantonato definitivamente il ruolo di MC, sviluppa parallelamente la professione di tecnico del suono, rivolgendo ora le proprie attenzioni artistiche al suo studio di registrazione e affinando ulteriormente la qualità della propria musica. Nel 2007 esce per Relief Records Eu l’attesissimo disco di Paura "Octoplus", interamente prodotto, registrato e mixato da Fabio Musta nel proprio studio. Il riscontro ottenuto da quest'ultimo, apre nuovi scenari a Fabio, impegnato in numerosi progetti oltre alla reallizzazione del suo nuovo album, che vedrà la partecipazione di numerosi artisti stranieri.
