George Thorogood & Destroyers to release The Hard Stuff
Thorogood first became acquainted with the two-time Grammy nominated singer, songwriter, producer and performer, Tom Hambridge during his last studio album "Ride Till I Die", when the Destroyers covered the Hambridge song "The Fixer". The two quickly hit it off and Hambridge found himself opening for the Destroyers and hanging out with the band. During the tour, Tom would climb aboard the Destroyers tour bus and, sitting in the back lounge, he would write with George and Jim Suhler. Several Thorogood, Hambridge, Suhler collaborations are found on this new album. Including the title track "The Hard Stuff", "Any Town USA" and "I didn't Know." Tom wrote "Love Doctor" with George in mind and it shows.

George and the band fill out the album with several obscure blues tunes that they've been sitting on for many years. You'll hear the Thorogood’ signature slide on the Jimmy Reed cut, "Little Rain" along with Hound Dog Taylor's "Give Me Back My Wig." George sings a heart felt cover of Fats Domino’s "Hello Josephine" in tribute the many people who suffered the wrath of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. He even plays the delta style biscuit cone guitar on Johnny Shines "Dynaflow Blues."
The Destroyers have always rocked the blues with a harder edge and "The Hard Stuff" is no exception. With the hits record "30 Years of Rock" enjoying 90 weeks on the Billboard Blues Chart and 50 weeks at #1, the band wants to follow up with a blues flavored album. "If they want the blues, we'll give it to them" says George during the first day in the studio. "Let's get this sucker done and take it on the road."
There's no sign of slowing down. The band will tour the South in March and head to Europe for the release of the new album. ThEn they return to the USA and finish the year with 80 shows under their belt by the fall.
