Send to a FriendGomez have been winning fans on both sides of the Atlantic for over half a decade. Since their Mercury Music Prize-winning 1998 debut Bring It On, Gomez has built an audience slowly and steadily through four studio albums and relentless touring, earning high praise far and wide.

The Los Angeles Times noted in a January 2005 live review, "This was an act at the top of its game, at once daring and playfully inviting -- and with rabidly adoring fans embracing every note." Now Gomez fans can savor the band's explosive live performances with Out West, two-disc set that was recorded over the course of a sold-out three-night engagement at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco in January 2005.
Out West's career-spanning tracklist opens with the psychedelic, synthesizer-enhanced "Get Miles" and quickly moves along to the frenetic rocker "Shot Shot," proclaiming from the start Gomez's energy and versatility. In addition to the favorites like "Whipping Picadilly" and "Bring It On", Gomez also test's the audience's musical knowledge with a couple of covers, including a rousing rendition of Tom Wait's "Going Out West", sounding more like a Cramps song with its stomping drums, eerie guitars and thumping bass. Side two features a cover Nick Drake's "Black Eyed Dog", that evolves into a medley of sorts as it slowly morphs into Gomez' own "Free To Run". The record walks the thin line between spacious free-form rock and a psychedelic space jam, w ith songs like "Here Comes The Breeze" clocking in at 8 minutes 55 seconds, to the over 11-minute "Revolution Kind".
Gomez -- Ian Ball (vocals, guitar), Paul Blackburn (bass, guitar), Tom Gray (vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass), Ben Ottewell (vocals, guitar), Olly Peacock (drums, percussion) and Dajon Everett (percussion, keyboards) -- are currently on tour in the U.S., as part of the Virgin College MegaTour with Cake and Robbers On High Street. The one-month run kicked off April 5 in Austin, Texas, and continues through May 6 in San Jose, California.
