SRP/Universal Motown artist HAL LINTON is a multi-talented 24-year-old R&B/soul singer-producer-songwriter sensation from Barbados who was discovered by Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken of SRP—the hit-making team that helped propel Rihanna and Shontelle up the charts. Drawing inspiration from Prince, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Bob Marley, and James Brown, HAL LINTON has crafted a unique blend of classic soul and modern R&B that ranks him alongside contemporary soul stirrers such as Maxwell, John Legend, Robin Thicke, Musiq Soulchild, and Anthony Hamilton. Now based in the New York City area, HAL LINTON’S debut album, Return From The Future, is due to be released in 2009, and will be preceded by the electrifying single “She’s Dangerous (Bang Bang).”
Suddenly bursting onto music radars Hal Linton awakened a longing thirst for soul music with his self penned and produced heart throb hits 'Cardiac Arrest' and 'Smile'.
With an exceptional dynamic voice reminiscent of Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye and Al Green he quickly rose to national and regional stardom and was nominated for eight awards at the 2007 Barbados Music Awards where he captured Song of the Year for the single Cardiac Arrest - a category shared with fellow Barbadian international artist Rihanna who picked up Song of te Year (female), Best New Artist, Songwriter of the Year, and R&B Single of the Year.
Literally born into a world of music, both his parents are classically trained musicians whose passion saw Hal constantly immersed in a heady musical cocktail of Nat King Cole and Al Green blended with bits of reggae dancehall legend Bob Marley and stirred with The 3 Tenors and countless other great artists."My parents listened to everything", says Hal.
This was just the start for the young artist and national academic scholar. who moved to the USA with his music manager Teneille Doyle in 2007.
Soon after Hal's rise to stardom took a twist and turn - where in late 2008 he joined the production team of Sturken & Rogers (SRP Music Group). Months after, he captured the attention of and was signed by Sylvia Rhone, President of Universal Motown Records. Since then he has been in studio crafting his album "Return From the Future". Breakout hits include "She's Dangerous" and "Lock My Heart". Stay tuned for more.
