Hear'Say - 'Popstars' 'Popstars' album

Apparently they are the five most talented singers and performers in the UK right now. Competing against thousands of other young hopefuls for a prestigious place in Britain's newest pop band, right from the start they had no easy task. After weeks of auditions, the judges decided that Myleene, Danny, Kym, Suzanne and Noel were the ones who would receive this chance of a lifetime.

The TV show 'Popstars' had millions of Brits hooked each week, watching the good, bad and ugly ;( all trying to achieve that dream of superstardom. Once the TV show was over it was time for the final five to put their dreams into practice and record the ever-important debut record.

The debut record also entitled 'Popstars' is a collection of catchy pop songs, which feature the bands unique vocals (when I say 'unique', I mean that, unlike many other manufactured pop bands, they can actually sing!). The TV show proved that not all manufactured pop bands are just pretty faces first and foremost and talented singers second.

When the TV show ended the public and the critics alike were optimistic as to whether the interest in the band would remain. The band of course proved that they did have what it takes to be one of the most successful pop bands that the UK has seen for some time. Their debut single shot straight into the #1 position and the debut album followed weeks later following in the footsteps of the single. The public remained interested in the future of the band and this became even more apparent when tickets went on sale for the bands first arena tour tickets sold out within hours and more dates were added immediately which consequently sold out!;)

Despite this there were still those that thought their success would be short lived. July saw the release of the bands second single 'The Way To Your Love', another hit for Hear'Say, which again debuted at #1.

Taking a closer look at the debut album, you will find a collection of pop songs, which will please most teen pop fans!

The debut single 'Pure And Simple' is one of those songs, which you can't forget for a while, sort of like an anthem. The lyrics are simple but with a catchy beat it is one of the highlight tracks on the album and also the 'trademark' track for the band.

Single number two, 'The Way To Your Love' is another track to be noted. With its distinctive pop sound it was an instant hit. If you like your pop upbeat then 'One' will not disappoint. *D

The band also sing 'Monday Monday' and 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' on the album. These songs hold 'good memories' for the band, as these were the songs that were performed during the gruelling audition process.

Overall this album is pure pop! If you listen closely, you will even hear sounds which are reminiscent of All Saints ("Pure & Simple" and "Sweet Alibi"), Steps ("Make It Happen"), Destiny's Child ("One"), S Club 7 ("Not That Kind"), Five ("Breathe") and even Janet Jackson ("Another Lover").

The band describe their sound as 'pop but with an angle, people are expecting bubble-gum pop but that's not what we are about. I don't think we sound like any other group out there.'

For a debut album, this is pretty remarkable stuff, considering that less than a year ago they were all unknowns with nothing more than a dream.

Now it is tour time for Hear'Say! The band are currently embarking on a sold out UK arena tour. Complete with no less than seven costume changes and a dazzling array of special effects, this is a show not to be missed.

The 90-minute set is spectacular and even includes solo numbers performed by all of the members. Suzanne covers the Madonna classic 'Express Yourself', dressed in leather, Myleene tackles 'Chains' and Kym dedicates 'Without You' to her children. Danny belted out 'I Found Lovin' by the Fatback Band and Noel gave us a little Luther Vandross with 'Never Too Much'.

The set list included 12 tracks taken from their debut album and the show was ended with their record breaking debut single 'Pure and Simple'.

Definitely a night to remember where Hear'Say proved once again why they were the five chosen to be in the band and live the dream.

The future is bright for Britain's newest pop band. Their next chart invasion is their collaboration with the German 'Popstars', No Angel. The single will be released at Christmas time and could be the bands third #1 single in under a year!

To all the critics and cynics who thought that Hear'Say would not survive without the backing of the TV show how wrong you could be!

Prepare to see Hear'Say keep getting bigger and better.. *D
