The track, “Higher,” will be available starting February 5th on iTunes as an exclusive pre-release, which will be accompanied by a music video produced by Heidi’s boyfriend and Hill’s co-star Spencer Pratt. In addition to her music and acting, Heidi is working on an upcoming clothing line, Heidiwood, in partnership with Anchor Blue, which is expected to debut this spring in almost two hundred stores nationwide. Heidi is also working on a mini-EP to be released later this year.
Heidi discusses her new single, “Higher”:
Growing up, I always had a passion for music. As early as the age of 5, I was making up songs and making my own music videos to Madonna, Britney Spears, MC Hammer, Michael Jackson, everyone! I have been performing (dance recitals, plays, musicals) ever since I can remember. Everyday I dreamed of becoming a pop star like one of my idols. I am inspired by Jesus, Theron Feemster, Janet Jackson, Christina Aguleira, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears, Prince, Elvis, and many, many more.
I have always wanted to be a performer, not just a singer. I love music because it is truly a way to express yourself and for people to hear your inner thoughts. I have been writing poetry from a young age, and music is so similar - it’s so private and intimate. Music is such a good escape and a great way to relay your thoughts into an artform. This is especially true being on a tv show and so prominently featured in the media- you get portrayed in so many different lights. I feel like people only know a fraction of who I am and this is a very personal way for people to get to know the true me. I want people to see what I’m really about and who I really am.
“Higher” is such a special song to me because there is so much negativity in the world and so many haters. At the end of the day, none of it matters and you can’t let it affect you or you life. This song is so uplifting and inspiring and “I’m only going higher!” The past is the past and you don’t have one moment to look back. You create your life and what happens. I wanted to portray this message and energy in my song and hopefully give people the same feeling. My album is about living life every moment and having fun.
This concept also represents how I feel about my music. I don’t want to be limited to one sound or one category of music. Music is freedom and you can do whatever you want with it, bounce around and even create new genres. My music producer and best friend, Theron Feemster (Nelly, Mary J. Blige), has really helped me to harness and display this attitude through my music. He is truly a genius. Being with Theron everyday in and out has really helped me develop myself, rediscover who I am, and create my own sound. I don’t want to be the next Britney, Madonna, or Michael Jackson. I want to be Heidi, just me. Theron has given me a new hope and a new life- living through music. I gave the song a listen and have to admit that it is a nice song.
