Coming like a blazing fury of raw energy and rock and roll momentum is the newly established band I’m Ok You’re Ok! Making their way out of one of this country’s most highly renowned music cities, Memphis, TN, this band is on a mission to not only have the best time possible, but to also throw the best music possible, full force, right in your direction.
Formed from some great friendships and extraordinary musical endeavors in Memphis, the band migrated out to sunny California to infiltrate another one of rock’s greatest music capitals, Los Angeles. From the Hollywood strip, to local venues around Echo Park, Silverlake, and from the beach to the Valley, every show was bent on creating an intensely fun experience…no matter what. But even from the initial conception of this power rock anthem band, all the members had a passion not just for music, but for making a difference in the community.
Hailing collectively from Memphis, you can immediately tell that there were a great bit of musical influences that took place beforehand within the band. While the lyrical content is blatantly real and full of emotion with a positive upturn, the music is absolutely explosive and will capture all rock and roll listener’s attention immediately! The new album “I’m Ok You’re Ok Presents…,” features blazing and memorable riffs, fat and funky bass lines, melodically capturing vocals, incandescent drum parts and a sweet tinge of tasteful synth. One could compare their musical onslaught to Saves the Day, Cartel, Paramore, The Academy Is, Motion City Soundtrack, Jimmy Eat World, & Anberlin.
On a quest for an impeccable sound to match the band’s furious rock tunes, one of the fore-runners of some of the nation’s greatest indie bands, producer Matt Goldman, teamed up with the band to create something of a heavenly musical experience that will blow you out of your seat from the moment it starts, till the moment you finish. From working with bands of a great caliber such as UnderOath, Copeland, Cartel, As Cities Burn, Anberlin, & My Hotel Year, Matt was well aware of the components necessary to make a great album, and a more than exceptional conglomeration emerged!
“So why should I jump on the I’m Ok You’re Ok bandwagon?” you might say. Well, if you haven’t gathered that reason already from all the depth and quality of the band’s music, they are all also committed off stage to great causes throughout the world such as: Just One (fights against human trafficking) Charity:Water (builds wells in Africa in local villages where clean water is unavailable for miles and miles) Compassion International (helps children in third-world countries with means of finances for education and welfare for their families as well) and The Dream Center (reaches out to the homeless, poor, and afflicted people of inner-city Los Angeles and New York City to help with food, shelter, and sometimes rehabilitation programs).
Rock and roll has seen it’s fair share of bad boys with middle fingers flying and booze slinging around in the back of some shady bar, now it’s time for the real guys to step in and show them how to rock out and have a good time without all the nasty “bad boy” side effects! Welcome, I’m Ok You’re Ok!
