Indie singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson will release her highly anticipated new album, "Everybody," on August 25th on her own Cabin 24 Records. The first single "Maybe" has been released last July 14th.
"Everybody" is the eagerly awaited follow-up to her 2007 release, "Girls and Boys," which spawned the hit single "The Way I Am" and launched Ingrid into the mainstream consciousness.
The New York Times describes Michaelson's unique musical approach as "soulful, idiosyncratic," while Rolling Stone loves her "sweet but mellow lounge-pop harmonies." On "Everybody" Michaelson showcases a matured point of view as she explores a new relationship with the idea of love, one that's less crushed-out girl and more self-realized, independent woman. "'Everybody' - which is about a big idea," explains Paste Magazine, "chronicles a relationship so intense and volatile that both lovers lose themselves within it. 'Everybody' is truly everybody's."
Well known for her live performances that balance honest emotion with her own quirky humor, Ingrid will be heading out on a fall tour of intimate venues to present live for the first time brand new songs from her forthcoming album. While her fall tour schedule will be announced soon, dates have been confirmed for September 16th in New York, October 7th in Los Angeles and October 26th in Chicago. Ingrid has remained fiercely independent, releasing all of her music via her own Cabin 24 label which has sold nearly 400,000 albums and over 1.5 million singles to date. Cabin 24 Records will release "Everybody" as part of a unique marketing and distribution arrangement via Original Signal/Universal Motown.
Ingrid has appeared on Good Morning America, Live with Regis & Kelly, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, NPR's Talk of the Nation, Fuse TV and was the first unsigned musician ever selected as a Vh1 "You Oughta Know" artist. She has been the subject of print features in publications as varied as the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly and even graced the cover of Billboard Magazine, as the new face of the music industry. Michaelson's most recent project, a compilation of new songs, covers, live favorites and demos was entitled "BE OK" and supported Stand Up To Cancer, an organization created to urgently move cancer research forward with the help of the public.
"...A grassroots phenomenon that's climbed from obscurity into the upper echelons of iTunes."
- Entertainment Weekly
"...Melodic, evocative tunes...songs that offer visions of love both giddy and grim, sung in a voice that is by turns whimsical and cutting." - Boston Globe
"...It seems unlikely that Michaelson's insinuating croon, smart lyrics and clever arrangements will wear out their welcome anytime soon." - The Washington Post
