JD Era
With the recent success of long time friend Drake and the spotlight on Toronto's growing hip hop scene, Era is moving forward with his debut album. Considered by many in the industry to be one of Canada’s top lyricists, JD possess an unrelenting demeanor and competitive attitude that will most definitely continue to serve him well as he moves forward in the path of a promising career.

In the last two years Era has performed alongside artists like Nas, Gza, Kardinal Offishall and The Clipse; however, in 2008 it was apparent that he was catching more attention when he himself was nominated for two DJ Stylus Awards, took home the hardware for Best Rap at the Toronto Independent Music Awards, and was crowned the winner of the TAG Records’ Survival of The Freshest competition. Additionally, by the end of the year his late summer street release, “Coming To America,” was nominated as Best Mixtape for Flow 93.5’s Real Frequency Awards. Aside from actual awards JD Era was able to cross borders with his music this past year when he appeared in the May issue of the well-known “Black Men’s Magazine,” signed a highly successful US ringtone deal with UrbMob., and spent about 2 months living and working on his music in New York City.

With 3 solid mixtapes under his belt, Era will release his first official full length album in 2010. Fans will get a sample of what’s in store when he drops the first single entitled “CoverGirl” featuring Bobby Valentino this fall. The first single is co-produced by The Vanguards (Kardinal Offishall's "Dangerous") and Beat Merchant (Juno Award Winner) The album also boasts production from Boi 1da (Drake "Best I Ever Had" ), Northern Profits (Drake "Uptown") and Saukrates.

With a trademark “in your face” approach and developed flow JD Era is well on his way to infiltrating the music industry worldwide. Creatively bridging the underground and the mainstream worlds, his elaborate wordplay and clever sound have already distinguished him from all the rest in the streets and on the stage. People get ready because the “Prince of The North,” is about to become king of the rap game!
