Jeffree Star, the self-made phenomenon with a flare for the dramatic and an on (and off)-line army of supporters as dedicated as they are diverse makes his musical debut today by way of the EP Cupcakes Taste Like Violence which is available today at all major physical and digital retailers. Jeffree has teamed with Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group (ILG) to form his own label, Popsicle Records. He's currently recording his full length record, Beauty Killer, set for release this summer and featuring a variety of guest appearances. The first single from Cupcakes is "Lollipop Luxury" and a remix is available on Jeffree's MySpace page (not available on the EP) featuring up-and-coming hip hop star Nicki Minaj. Minaj is the first signing to Lil' Wayne's label Young Money Entertainment.
Jeffree’s love for the extreme started from a young age attending the Hollywood club scene fully clad in nine-inch heels, mini-dresses, show-stopping makeup and his trademark stunning pink hair. He quickly was in high-demand as a personal makeup artist to stars such as Kelly Osbourne, Nicole Richie, and Paris Hilton. Soon, Jeffree's profile began to rise in LA as he graced the covers of Frontiers and LA Weekly in addition to being the face of jewelry designer Tarina Tarantino’s Tokyo Hardcore campaign alongside his close friend, AFI’s Davey Havok. Things started moving quickly as his MySpace page became and remains one of the site's most trafficked pages. Jeffree launched his own clothing line in Hot Topic, expanded his web presence as the face of sites like Buzznet and Stickam, and even became a beloved guest on America’s Next Top Model and regular on L.A. Ink. He has appeared in music videos for Good Charlotte, Peaches and Godhead as well. The inaugural Popsicle Records release will be Jeffree’s Cupcakes Taste Like Violence EP which comes out on December 9th, 2008. That EP will be followed by Jeffree’s debut full length which he is currently recording and due out Spring/Summer 2009. Says Jeffree on the new label deal: “I’ve always wanted something like this and I’m so thankful that I’ve been given this opportunity. ILG believe in my vision and are making it happen! I get to put out my own music, as well as sign bands to my label and have all the control. Some old executive can’t pick my album cover for me and tell me what I should sound like!”
In the spring of 2008, Jeffree traveled the country stealing hearts and delivering sold-out shows during his first headlining US Tour, aptly titled the Jeffree Star Will Steal Your Man Tour. He recently finished the west coast run of the Vans Warped Tour where he was a top draw on the Hurley Stage and the third ranking band in daily merchandise sales, ranking only below mainstage acts Cobra Starship and Gym Class Heroes. He is currently recording his first full-length album, Beauty Killer. It is scheduled for release in 2009.
