Aerosmith's Joe Perry is prepared to release his fifth solo effort, "Joe Perry... Have Guitar Will Travel" on October 6th.
Perry asked for fan suggestions as to what he should name the album via Twitter and Joe Piscitelli had the winning suggestion with a nod toward Bo Diddley's 1959 album, "Have Guitar, Will Travel."
The guitarist hopes to tour next year under the moniker, the Joe Perry Project. He released his first three solo albums under the same name in the early 1980s when he took a hiatus from Aerosmith. His self-titled fourth effort came out in 2005 and garnered a Grammy nomination.
Perry sings four tracks and a German singer named Hagen that Perry's wife found on YouTube sings five of the album's tracks. The album's first single will be "Long Way to Go," and a new tune "Love Song" and an early Fleetwood Mac cover "Somebody's Gonna Get (Their Head Kicked In Tonite" round out the album.
Joe Perry biography
As a founding member, principle (co)songwriter, and electrifying lead guitarist of Aerosmith--America's Greatest Rock & Roll Band--Joe Perry has achieved permanent iconic stature in the pantheon of rock, driving his band, over the course of three decades, to sales of more than 100 million albums, critical acclaim, four Grammy Awards, and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Joe Perry provides an exciting glimpse of another side of himself with his new self-titled solo album. Still as scorching hot on guitar as he is preternaturally cool in his persona, Joe Perry has created a collection of songs reflecting his deepest personal concerns, from his passion for rock and love of the blues to his keen social conscience and devotion to friends and family.
