Kaiser Chiefs 'Yours Truly Angry Mob' album

Yours Truly, Angry Mob, Kaiser Chiefs's second full-length album, is set for release on Universal Records on March 27th, 2007. Produced by Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur), mixed by Cenzo Townshend and Stephen Street at Olympic Studio in London and recorded at Hook End Manor in Oxfordshire in one 6 week session last fall, Yours Truly... is the brilliant follow-up to their debut, Employment.

Kaiser Chiefs were one the great musical success stories of 2005. In a time where the British press was championing a different skinny boy guitar band, seemingly by the hour, Kaiser Chiefs swiftly and effortlessly breezed into first place. At home in the UK they became the biggest new band of the year, selling 3 million records and sweeping the Brit Awards, the NME awards and taking home the prestigious Ivor Novello songwriter award. Further afield, Chiefs were wholehearted welcomed by the US media, who latched on to the feisty fun of debut single "I Predict A Riot" and reveled in the band's energetic live shows, marveling at lead singer Ricky Wilson's signature high jumps, which he even managed at SXSW with a broken ankle. The Kaiser's, along with fellow Brits Bloc Party, became leaders of the pack in a spirited "British Invasion" which may have been more of a "renaissance" than an "invasion". Either way, Kaiser Chiefs made a lively entrance into America, bringing their wildly dynamic performance to the sets of The Tonight Show, The Late Show and Late Night as well as a rousing morning performance on Regis & Kelly. By the time the boys returned to Britain things had spiraled into bone fide Kaiser Mania and they found themselves the uncontested Band Of The Year.

Fast forward to 2007 and Kaiser Chiefs (Ricky Wilson - lead vocals), Andrew "Whitey" White (guitar), Simon Rix (bass), Nick "Peanut" Baines (keyboards) and Nick Hodgson (drums and vocals) are about to unveil their much anticipated follow-up. Already, first single "Ruby," has charted in the UK Top 10 Airplay after only 3 days of play and a new UK tour sold out in a mighty 3 minutes.

Yours Truly, Angry Mob wields its musical might from the start in the shape of "Ruby" - an infectious single to rival anything the band have done before. "Angry Mob", a favorite from the band's European festival appearances last year is destined to be a universal fan favorite. "Heat Dies Down" will surely have 'em pogoing in the aisles en masse, while the stunning "Everything Is Average Nowadays" is perhaps the thread linking Yours Truly... with its predecessor. Yours Truly, Angry Mob, as one band member has been heard to utter, "is an album full of big choruses and even bigger guitars". Maybe so. It's also the work of a band hitting their creative stride. Biography

The end of the last chapter finished with..."everybody wants a piece of Kaiser Chiefs"

The start of this one begins nearly two years on and the subsequent trajectory that the band has traveled. 'Employment' the album, probably exceeded everybody's expectations critics and fans alike, the album heralded it's arrival with a slew of amazing reviews from The Guardian and NME to The Big Issue in UK and Rolling Stone & Spin amongst many others Stateside . Radio took the band to their hearts across the world and made sure that the album maintained its momentum whilst retaining it's Top 40 album status for 18 months in the UK.

2005 was arguably the year of the Chiefs be it on the (indie) dancefloor, radio, TV or in print...from Parva to Philadelphia, sometimes life isn't quite as mapped out as you think! The release of 'Oh My God' in February that year preceded the album and was a mere taster of what to come, the band unleashed their pot of gold and everybody realized there was more where the likes of 'I Predict A Riot' and 'Oh My God' came from, it could be argued the album had none of that record company parlance aka 'filler' and was proven when the band took the show on-the-road, 75 minutes of hi-energy entertainment backed up by receiving 'Best Live Act' at last years Brit Awards (one of 3 Awards collected by the band on the night).

Glastonbury 2005 was the Kaisers festival, with dreaded weather curtailing some people's enjoyment the band played the main stage on the Saturday afternoon and again had the crowd eating out their (collective) hands, the sun even shone briefly with the arrival of a giant inflatable dinosaur crowd-surfing. That summer also marked the twentieth anniversary of Live8 and Kaiser Chiefs were invited to open the proceedings at the Philadelphia leg of the day long celebrations playing alongside Stevie Wonder!

Further singles 'Modern Way', and the re-appearance of 'I Predict A Riot’ as a mainstream smash consolidated the band's hard work ethic which had seen them start as opening act on that year's NME Brats tour- with Bloc Party, The Futureheads and The Killers, emerging twelve months later as a band who had sold well over a million albums in the UK and establishing themselves as an enthralling live act, it was only the end of another chapter...

The past year in the Kaisers camp has been interspersed with live shows including amongst others their biggest UK gigs to date. Two nights at London's Ally Pally and back on their home turf in Leeds with two shows at Millennium Square, in addition to this the band put a lid on the "Employment" era with almost 3 million albums now sold worldwide. They sealed the deal with triumphant sets at Reading & Leeds, T In The Park and Oxygen Festivals in Summer 2006 whilst also knuckling down to the important task of coming up with the oft dreaded 'second album'. Whilst writing and rehearsing in Leeds the band continued to scoop up further accolades for debut "Employment". “Album of the Year” at the NME Awards and a prestigious “Ivor Novello Award” that positions Kaiser Chiefs alongside some of the greatest songwriters of all time.

A handful of new tracks were road tested at the various dates throughout Europe that the band had undertaken with the rest written and rehearsed back home in Leeds. It was with these 22 tracks that were to make up the sessions for what is now known as 'Yours Truly, Angry Mob’. A new chapter begins.
