Singer/songwriter and Sliverlake native Kennedy is an artist who dances to the reflection of his own disco ball. Groovier than Curtis Mayfield and cooler than Gil Scott-Heron, Kennedy’s image draws international acclaim, cooking up a distinct sound reminiscent of The Bee Gees, George Michael and a touch of Daft Punk blended with one part Jamiroquai.

Following a brief stint in the band The Silversun Pickups, Kennedy went on to develop a uniquely eclectic type of pop music and has created a persona that’s been coined as the purveyor of “electro trash”. He’s shared the stage with the likes of Bloc Party, the Tings Tings, and The Foals, to name a few. His last single “Karate” was featured in Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist and will soon be heard in the upcoming indie film, Saint John Of Las Vegas, starring Steve Buscemi and Sarah Silverman.

Kennedy’s latest release is Life Is A Party and features the standout track, John and Yoko, where our pop hero is joined by the guest vocals of the French and adorably hip Yelle.

    Kennedy biography
Singer/songwriter Kennedy is an artist who dances to the reflection of his own disco ball. Groovier than Curtis Mayfield, or cooler than Gil Scott-Heron, Kennedy’s image draws international acclaim, cooking up a distinct sound reminiscent of The Bee Gees, George Michael and a touch of Daft Punk blended with one part Jamiroquai. Behind the sounds, Kennedy’s pop songwriting skills rival the likes of Randy Newman, Hall and Oates and Harry Nilsson. Bringing his uniquely eclectic sound to pop music, Kennedy has been coined the purveyor of “electro trash”.

Kennedy has established himself as a favorite among LA's hipster illuminati and as a leader of Europe’s electro trash coterie. After being kicked out of L.A.’s Silversun Pickups for setting the singer’s sweater on fire, Kennedy was selected to open for Jon Brion at Café Largo in Los Angeles. Jon invited Kennedy to record at his studio with engineer Tom Biller (Kanye West, Fiona Apple, Sean Lennon). Kennedy was spotted by Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor) while supporting Bloc Party and Elefant in London. Gordon demanded that Kennedy record at his London studio. After recording two tracks, the rest is history.

2007 for Kennedy was all about the single, “Your Mama” which garnered over 1.3 million views on YouTube. The single was followed in 2008 by his Cordless debut EP, Life Is An Afterparty, which features two tracks (“Your Mama (Wide Boys Full Remix)” and “I Hate Rock and Roll”) that are not available on the upcoming full-length release.

Kennedy splits his time between a girlfriend’s house in LA’s trendy Silverlake neighborhood and another girlfriend’s house in London. He has toured Europe in support of The Foals, Yelle, The Ting Tings, and countless others. A bona fide electro trash superstar, Kennedy has been the focus of music blogs and online websites, and has been featured in a myriad of publications ranging from Elle Magazine (France) to LA Weekly (USA) and Music Week (UK).

Kennedy’s new CD, Life Is A Party (2009), features the single, “Karate,” which appeared in Sony Pictures’ comedy, Nick & Nora’s Infinite Playlist and will soon be heard in the upcoming indie film, Saint John Of Las Vegas, starring Steve Buscemi and Sarah Silverman. Another standout track is the homage duet, “John & Yoko,” which unites Kennedy with the toast of the French music scene, Yelle.

Ushering in the era of the Retro Revival, his Nightmare in Studio 54, the auspicious enigmatic anomic, Kennedy, wants to leave a lasting impression on his audience, and says of his music. “My music will touch you... in a funky way.”
