Emerging from Stockholm's inventive jazz scene in the late 90s, KOOP drew immediate notoriety for their unique and passionate musical fusion and their groundbreaking sample-based amalgamation of jazz, dance, and electronica. Waltz For KOOP, their international debut, established KOOP as true pioneers, unafraid to blend diverse styles into their own retro groove. The collection received critical praise with Muzik hailing it as near-perfect and Q Magazine writing, Stirring atmospheres are KOOP's true forte beautifully arranged.

KOOP Islands, their newest release, sees the Swedish duo absorbing the influence of the classic Big Band sound of the Twenties, Thirties, and Forties to create an inimitable groove they call "swingtronica." Joining KOOP on their remarkable musical journey are a number of guest vocalists including Yukimi Nagano, ex-Galliano frontman Rob Gallagher, as well as the acclaimed Norwegian singer-songwriter Ane Burn. Among the many highlights of KOOP Islands are the sweet and rhythmic "Let's Elope," the syncopated "Come To Me" and the melancholic "Koop Island Blues," which brings to mind cinematic soundscapes. No wonder, music from KOOP Islands is being featured on TV at shows like Grey's Anatomy, October Road and Nip/Tuck.

With the release of KOOP Islands, it was a natural decision for the band to go on a live concert tour of the U.S. Kicking off on November 2nd and running through the 10th, the band will be hitting venues in cities like New York, SF and Los Angeles taking their jazz, dance, swing moods with them. When performing, Simonsson and Zingmark magically transform KOOP from a two-man studio project into a full-scale orchestra, complete with multiple singers and up to nine live instruments.
