Formed in 2002 by friends Torsten Larsen and Tore Johansen because the latter had a microphone, a computer and a room and was able to help the former record a few songs.
Larsen &Furious Jane turned into a lasting friendship and a band with a line-up consisting at different points in time of up to 8 people, including Nils Grˆndahl of fabulous Danish band Under Byen (released in the US and Canada by Paper Bag Records).
Larsen and Johansen recorded a CD-R debut album that doesn't really count, but got them signed to Morningside Records. They have since released 3 critically acclaimed albums, including the current release Zen Sucker, their darkest collection of songs to date.
The silly name is a joke that stuck and it has been an ongoing discussion ever since -- if the band would have to change it in order to really make it in the music business. Who's to say? (Another Danish band once had to change it's name from Disneyland After Dark to D.A.D. because of a lawsuit, and they are huge in Denmark now... But that's a digression.)
"Zen Sucker, the way we see it, is a mental vampyre, that sucks all good will and positive energy out of you and leaves you groaning without a chance to master anything but the most necessary movements." - Larsen &Furious Jane about their 3rd full length album Zen Sucker.
“In a sort of half-secret way Larsen & Furious Jane have become Denmark's most personal indie rock band […] Zen Sucker becomes an inspiring maze […] An album where you can work your way in deeper while constantly finding new gold. After establishing themselves as a phenomenon of alternative songwriting Larsen & Furious Jane have started developing in an extremely exciting direction.”
-- Politiken
“Significant darkness and despair on Larsen &Furious Jane's third. […] Zen Sucker is a gift to a world that just keeps taking.” -- Berlingske Tidende
“Zen Sucker is utterly brilliant – and it's one of those albums that's going to last for the remainder of the year and beyond that far into the future.” -- Undertoner
