The Laurel Collective are a motly 6 piece who marry the soulful vocals of Martin Sakutu with some percussion driven, rhythmic indie, wistful melodies and co-singer Bob Tollast’s skewed, darkly humorous lyrics. Throw in some dancehall rhythms’ driving bass and a love of vintage synths and you get a formula that’s won them a deal with Double Six Records, an offshoot of Domino, who has released the single Vuitton Blues to worldwide hysteria, shortly followed by the earth shattering mini album, "Feelgood hits of a nuclear winter" out NOW. We are still loving "International Love Affair" music video by Laurel Collective (a Thumbs Up!) although its been over three months since was given a 'Thumbs Up' here at MusicRemedy (September, 2008). An oldie but didnot make it to 'goodie'. Apparantly not enough attention to make it to the top. A pity...
