Lay Low’s rootsy blues strut is not typical Icelandic pop music. The 24-year-old’s debut album Please Don’t Hate Me has been topping the Icelandic charts since its release in October 2006, eventually reaching platinum. That year, Lay Low received more nominations for the Icelandic Music Awards in 2006 than any other musician, and landed three trophies. Her track “Mojo Love” even made its way onto Grey’s Anatomy. Lay Low will make her debut in the States this month with a series of shows in NYC and LA.
