Has it really been that long? Indeed, Brooklyn smart-punk four-piece Les Savy Fav hasn’t released a record of all new material since 2001’s laserbeam breakthrough, Go Forth. Of course, frontman Tim Harrington and company have been keeping plenty busy with singles, compilations, and loads of on-stage semi-nudity, so it’s not like we’ve missed them. But with the looming September 18th release of Let’s Stay Friends – the Fav’s latest Frenchkiss long-player – it’s time to rejoice, because we’re about to be gifted with twelve BRAND NEW tunes.

    Les Savy Fav

To celebrate, the band has invited a host of guests along: Enon, Eleanor Friedberger of Fiery Furnaces, Islands’ Nick Thorburn, Emily Haines of Metric, Black Heart Procession’s Joe Plummer, and funny-man Fred Armisen. And, yes, for those of you who’ve been following closely, “Scotchguard the Credit Card” features voicemail vocals phoned in from actual Les Savy Fans after the band put out a request on their website earlier this year.

In addition to unveiling the highly-anticipated tracklist (which you can find at the left side) and release date (9/18), the band has announced two New York City live shows – September 21st at the soon-to-open Music Hall of Williamsburg in their native Brooklyn, and September 22nd at Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan.

What the press is saying about Les Savy Fav:

“Les Savy Fav is one of New York’s finest rock bands, hands down.” – Village Voice

“Up-beat, jaunty rock, deliberately curdled with dissonant guitar lines and critiques of capitalism.” – The New York Times

“Les Savy Fav specialize in brainy, brawny punk rock: The guitar lines search and stammer, and the lyrics follow and obtuse narrative path, untangling with each listen.” – Entertainment Weekly

    “They’re a revelation” (9 out of 10) NME

“Malevolent and charming at once” (A-) Entertainment Weekly

“Werewolf howls and Party Chants” 4 Stars Rolling Stone

“...the story of a band and its evolution” (90%) Filter

“NYC art-punks strike gold with fourth album.” (4 out of 4 Stars) Mojo

“...producing the best music of their career” (4 out of 4 Stars) Uncut

“...an album of genuine, surprising depth.” (4 out of 5 Stars) Q

    “Breakneck, invigorating...” (3 Stars) SPIN
