Livingston Taylor 'There You Are Again' album

On January 24, 2006, Coconut Grove, a division of Chesky Records, will release Livingston Taylor's new album 'There You Are Again,' the celebrated singer-songwriter's first new studio album in nine years. The album features twelve new songs, all penned by Taylor. Though Carly Simon, Take Six and many more appear on 'There You Are Again,' the centerpiece is Livingston Taylor's warm and inviting tenor vocal, accentuating his meticulous song writing.

'There You Are Again' starts off with "Best of Friends," an affirmation of friendship, written initially for the TV show, Friends. Taylor recalls, "I filed it away in a corner of my brain until 2002 when I fleshed it out and played it for Carly Simon. She loved it and asked to sing it with me. I was born at night, but not last night and her generous offer was immediately accepted."

The album progresses to the stirring "There I'll Be," with James and Kate Taylor teaming with Pam Tillis to back Livingston's lead vocal, marking the first time that the landmark singer-songwriter siblings have all recorded together. Livingston said, "Vince Gill got word that James and I were playing guitar together and wanted to add a part of his own. The burning Stratocaster in the solo section is his -- an amazing thrill for me to play with these guitar legends."

'There You Are Again' highlights Taylor's spirituality. Always a part of his music, here it at times takes a more obvious position. The gospel song "Step By Step" features an inspired turn by the New Day Jubilee Choir as directed by gospel legend Andrae Crouch. "Tell Jesus (To Come To My House)" pairs Taylor with his musical heroes Take Six, who provide rich, thick harmonies. Taylor said, "They were the most meticulous and disciplined artists that I've ever worked with."

Recorded primarily in Nashville, other contributors included guitarist Jimmy Vivino (Max Weinberg 7), drummer Steve Gadd (Paul Simon, Steely Dan, Chick Corea), bassist Leland Sklar (Phil Collins, Jackson Browne), guitarist George Marinelli (Bruce Hornsby, Ray Charles) and drummer Chad Cromwell (Neil Young). David Sanborn lends his haunting sax to the dark "Tuesday's Lullaby."

A cherished live performer, Livingston Taylor has a distinguished thirty-five year music career. From touchstone classics 'Liv' and 'Over The Rainbow' to his modern work, Taylor has built a devoted fan base on his honest songwriting, crystal-clear vocals, and steady touring schedule. In addition to his performing and songwriting careers, he is also a member of the faculty and administration at The Berklee College of Music and an artist in residence at Harvard University.
