It has been six long years since Sublime's front man Bradley Nowell died of a tragic overdose and like all of you I am also searching for a sound similar to Sublime's to add to my CD collection. Little did I know that I did not have to look very far because their is an another band out there that is able to mix all types of music meld them together into one easily accessible package.

That band is Long Beach Dub Allstars, try to say that ten times fast. Long beach dub all stars consist of former Sublime band mates Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson along with Opie Ortiz doing lead vocals, Ras-1 playing guitar and also lead vocals, Marshall Goodman on the turntable and drums, Jack Maness play the keyboard and chiming time from time with vocals and Tim Wu playing the Saxophone and the flute. This band is certainly diverse to say the least.

With two CD's out one in 1999 and the other in 2001 LBDA is establishing a name for themselves and not just living off of Sublime, Although they do not want people to forget about Sublime. On their most recent CD "Wonders of The World" the song sunny hours contains sampling of Bradely Nowell singing a soulful verse that will send chills down anyone's spine.

I just don't see how anyone could not like or at least recognize the obvious talent of LBDA. They mix reggae,punk,ska,rap, jazz and dub all together making it so know matter what type of music you like there is always going to be a track on that CD you enjoy listening to. Not many other bands have put all those types of music into one CD but Sublime and after Brad Nowell died no bands made this type of music. But thanks to LBDA once again we have a band doing something different for a change and continuing the legacy of Sublime. So for all of you Hard-core Sublime Fans I highly suggest you go out there and buy a Long Beach Dub Allstar CD and even if you didn't like Sublime very much I still recommend giving LBDA a chance just because you will never find music like theirs anywhere else.
