2005 is proving to be the most exciting year yet for Portuguese Fado star Mariza, who continues to establish herself as one of the premiere voices in the international music scene. Her new album TRANSPARENTE has charted in the Top 10, 20 or 50 in many countries such as Spain, Belgium, Holland, Iceland and in the UK. On Aug. 9, US fans will have a chance to hear what has become one of the most celebrated world music albums to be released in Europe this year, when Times Square Records releases TRANSPARENTE. Additionally, Mariza's remarkable talent and beauty will be displayed on the big screen-she has just been cast to star with fellow fadista Camane in a new film about Fado music called "Fados" by Oscar-nominated Spanish director Carlos Saura. The film will look at today's fado scene, as well as looking back on the glorious fadistas of the past.
