Meaghan Smith is a quirky female singer-songwriter from Halifax, Nova Scotia, who’s other passion in life is illustration. She’s inspired by music from the 20s, 30s and 40s, as heard on her debut Sire Records 4-song EP The Cricket’s Quartet. Her music is brought to life with the accompany of a string quartet, an eight-piece horn section, guitars, keys, upright bass, a clarinet, some flutes, and even an Omnichord. She used Mellotron samples in place of a modern band because she loved the quirky, vintage vibe they brought to the songs, and topped it all off with some turntable scratches. The result is an ideal blend of old and new. We gave "A Little Love" music video by Meaghan Smith a listen and yeah, it's a nice song (November, 2008). No idea whether this will be an official single. Just check it if you want to keep updated.
