"Paper Planes" is the third single from artist M.I.A.'s second album Kala. It samples the song "Straight to Hell" by The Clash. It is notable for its chorus, which features gunshots and cash register sounds. While performing the song on Late Night with David Letterman on September 21, 2007, M.I.A. appeared to be visibly surprised to hear the song's gunshots replaced with ambiguous-sounding "popping" sounds.
