Mobius Band found themselves a living testament to this concept when they picked up their gear and moved from their small hometown of Shutesbury, MA (population 1,800) to Brooklyn. Awash in a sea of synergistic communications – an all-encompassing worldly static, if you will – the band tuned in, and found themselves driven by the warm glow of life within the vibrations. And this idea developed at the heart of their sound: a moody maelstrom of organic and electronic elements.

The Loving Sounds of Static, Mobius Band’s debut album, is a warm collection of catchy pop-electronic hybrid songs. It rings with the familiar distinctions of guitars, vocals, bass and drums, and is seasoned with tactfully layered electronics, which only serve to heighten the sincerity of these songs. The Loving Sounds of Static is a unique amalgamation of musical messages, spanning the realms of organic and digital creation.
Mobius Band’s compositional abilities truly shine on this record, and the care behind each individual signal comes to light thanks to mixing work by Peter Katis (Interpol). Listen to the propulsive “You’re Wrong” or the candidly introspective “Eighteen” and you will begin to grasp the intricacies of this group. On “Twilight,” follow the blissful marriage of glockenspiel and drum machine in an anomalous setting. Following their recent EP, City Vs Country, The Loving Sounds of Static is the perfect successor, fully bringing their skills to the forefront.
Mobius Band has shared stages with artists as diverse as Godspeed You Black Emperor and Franz Ferdinand, not to mention Broken Social Scene, the Walkmen, and many others.
