Recently, the Scotts in Mogwai got in on the action, writing tunes for a documentary about the other football: soccer. Confirmed, Stuart Braithwaite and his Glaswegian brethren are responsible for the soundtrack to Zidane, a portrait of the French footballer (a class-act, a hero to millions, and one mean head-butter) by Scottish film director and Turner Prize winner Douglas Gordon. The film was a surprise hit at this year Cannes and we’ve got copies of the soundtrack. In the meantime, enjoy a few words about the music from Stu himself, and the album-opening "Black Spider".

We gave "Black Spider" music video by Mogwai a listen and yeah, we like it. Let's see if it will 'grow' on us. (May, 2007) Ahh look a song which should have received more attention. A pity...
