Monster Movie make a fine return on the mysterious Graveface label for another album of melancholy dream-pop. And while that description may feel like its been applied to numerous bands in the most haphazard of ways, it should be noted that Monster Movie contains a former member of shoegaze legends Slowdive, so it's pretty much a given that these guys know what they're doing. All Lost has a constant underlying motif of hazy, breezy melodies, but in addition to slow-breathing ballads like "Hope I Find The Moon," there's the Magnetic Fields-inspired electro-pop of "Driving Through The Red Lights" and the buoyant pop of "Return To Yesterday." Monster Movie create pleasingly laid-back sonics that never once drift into monotony, taking the best moments of fellow subtle-pop merrymakers like Low, Mojave Three, Flying Saucer Attack, and Red House Painters and melding together something wonderful in its own right.

    Biography

Imagine that it's sometime between twilight and dawn deep in the middle of winter. You can't sleep, and you sit up and turn on the radio, just to fill the quiet. When you reach the end of the dial, something happens; where there has never before been anything but empty air, music is filtering through the static. It is pure and beautiful and sounds like nothing you have ever heard--reminiscent of what you might think the aurora borealis would sound like, or maybe the snow falling outside.

Welcome to Monster Movie's latest album, All Lost. The third full-length offering from Christian Savill and Sean Hewson, All Lost features supremely melodic and ethereal pop laden with distortion, otherworldly effects and strangely radiant drone. Vocals are clear and serene, and include meltingly lovely contributions from Rachel Staggs (Experimental Aircraft, Eau Claire). With twelve tracks of dreamy, crystalline music spun out of faraway starlight and falling shadows, this album will wrap your heart up in its pale blue shimmer and keep you forever.

All Lost comes packaged in a lovely gatefold sleeve with art by William Schaff.
