Considered one of the most unique and influential voices in world music, Moya Brennan’s songs have been heard on countless television shows and international soundtracks over the years. With her exceptional new album featuring her distinctive, mesmerizing vocals, Moya once again takes the listener to a faraway place. An enhanced CD with bonus materials including video footage and the making of the album, Two Horizons will be released on Decca Records February 3rd.

Working on Two Horizons was a gratifying and spiritual experience for Moya. She split the recording sessions between her home studio near Dublin and in London where producer, Ross Cullum resides. Cullum has worked with many platinum-selling artists such as Tears For Fears, Tori Amos, and Moya’s sister Enya. The two began writing and mixing different rhythms and riffs, sifting through several tracks before rounding out the songs. With “Bright Star,” Moya was so inspired that she wrote and produced it in only two hours. She noted that Cullum found new ways to frame her voice, “He was careful not to take my voice out of context, but also gave a modern, rhythmical aspect to it.” Moya is also joined by many guest musicians on this album including folk giant Martin Carthy, Robbie McIntosh (Pretenders, Paul McCartney) and old friend Anton Drennan who is now working with The Corrs. More traditional players included Maire Breatnach, Nigel Eaton and Troy Doneckley.

The beginnings of Two Horizons date back to the summer of 2001 when Moya began to conceptualize the record. Intrigued by the idea of having a common theme throughout the album, she wanted to tell her own story yet still leave room for the listeners to interpret the music their own way. Using the harp, Moya started immediately working on storyboards that incorporated the instrument throughout each song. To Moya, the harp symbolized the peace and harmony we all long for in the world around us, exploring the eternal search for love and happiness. Moya describes the opening track “Show Me,” as the beginning of the journey, “where she meets the stranger who shows her the way to the harp.” A true artist with a vision, Moya Brennan proves once again with Two Horizons she is also an exceptional talent.
