Nightmare Of You is gearing up to release their second studio album, Infomaniac, out July 21st, 2009 on The Bevonshire Label. Produced by Brian Thorn at Magic Shop studios in Manhattan, NY, this album is the band's most altruistic, enthralling and skillful work to date.
This record has allowed Nightmare Of You (Brandon Reilly-vox/guitar, Joseph McCaffrey-guitar/vox, Michael Fleischmann-drums, Brandon Meyer-bass) the lucidity to create a more sophisticated sound. Infomaniac, is an artfully driven aural experience - built up of synergetic instrumental measures and intense lyrics that flow brilliantly transcending one song to the next.
He goes on to explain the album progression from the band’s debut as “a beautiful example of how we have grown both as individuals and as a band. There are elements of jazz and funk that fit perfectly within this otherwise "indie pop rock" tune. You can hear different parts of each us in it and to me that is a very important stamp of a band.”
Bouncy crooner “Hey Sweetheart” and the aching “Please Don’t Answer Me,” two songs that are precede Nightmare of You’s debut album and have been fan favorites live for years, are realized on the album, juxtaposed with newer tracks like the propulsive “Gavi” and atmospheric, emotive “Amsterdam.” The songs are a compelling evolution from Nightmare of You, both because the band has grown in the four years since its release and because this record was more of a collaborative effort between songwriters.
The title of this album came naturally when the band discussed communication and how it has changed since the previous release. “The last generation was the technology generation. I think the generation we are living in now is the information generation. Every body needs to know everything about every one and every thing at all times of the day. This has been made realistic and accessible through the internet's corporate and not so corporate news publications and gossip blogs. It has made the majority of society completely compulsive, neurotic, and addictive. Hence, Infomaniac, says Reilly.
Infomaniac, is proof that Nightmare Of You have immensely matured as composers, musicians and lyricists in the two years since their last album. The band is currently on tour with Alkaline Trio and Saves The Day.
