Recently, we have witnessed the commercial success of some “American Songbook” and “Standards”-type albums recorded by some very well-known pop and rock superstars, featuring older popular songs from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s, so perhaps I was ahead of the curve in my desire to release an album of pop “standards” back then. But make no mistake, “This Is Pat DiNizio” is not to be confused with the sort of “standards” revival records that have become so popular in recent years.

The difference is, with a very few exceptions, that most of the songs I recorded for this collection were songs that our generation grew up listening to firsthand when they were initially released, and when these songs first achieved popularity on the radio. “This Is Pat DiNizio” is, simply, a collection of sixteen of my favorite pop songs, arranged for solo voice and piano.
