Pendulum has unveiled details of their eagerly awaited "Tour of the Americas." The North American leg of the bi-continental trek will kick off on October 1st at Boston's Middle East (see below itinerary). The tour, the band's first ever on American shores, will conclude with a CMJ Music Marathon showcase at New York City's Bowery Ballroom on October 26th. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale on Friday, August 15.
Already a sensation in the UK and the band's native Australia, Pendulum's North American debut album, "IN SILICO," is quickly causing a commotion here in the U.S. The Perth-based outfit has been winning fervent fans everywhere for their hard-edged amalgamation of big beats, massive guitars, and powerhouse hooks, resulting in the album's #2 chart debut in the UK upon its release earlier this year and subsequent gold certification after only four weeks.

"Propane Nightmares," the dynamic first single from "IN SILICO," will ship to College/Specialty radio later this month, and then hit multi-format commercial rock outlets in September. Influential DJ/music director Aaron Axelson has been supporting "Propane Nightmares" on Soundcheck, his weekly radio show which airs on tastemaker station Live 105 (KITS-FM) in San Francisco -- he raves, "...the song generates a SICK reaction with every spin." The track is already a proven smash in the UK, where it reached the Top 10 on the singles chart and was one of Radio 1's most played songs of the year. "Propane Nightmares" is currently nominated for "Best Single" at the venerable Kerrang! Awards.
What's more, the "IN SILICO" track, "Mutiny," is now featured in Verizon Wireless' national television ad campaign to promote their LG Dare phone.
Recently, Pendulum made British headlines with their cover of Coldplay's "Violet Hill" on Radio 1's Live Lounge. The show itself dubbed it, "the best Live Lounge to date" and the track immediately earned itself a slot on the channel's A-List alongside "Other Side," the band's current UK single.
American audiences received their first sample of Pendulum's brave new rock 'n' roll-inspired sound when the band made a triumphant U.S. live debut at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this past April. Having recently completed their second sold out UK tour, Pendulum is spending the summer blowing it up at nearly every major international music festival, including the UK's legendary Reading & Leeds Festival, coming up on August 22nd (Leeds) and 24th (Reading).
Since its formation in 2002, Pendulum has caused quite the stir in both the hard rock and dance music communities around the world. The band's 2005 debut, "HOLD YOUR COLOUR," was an international breakout success, with sales in excess of 225,000 in the UK alone, where it still sits in the Top 40 album chart today. Pendulum's innovative sonic approach has earned the band comparisons to such visionary artists as Led Zeppelin, Queens of the Stone Age, and Tool.
"Granite," a featured track on "IN SILICO," proved a phenomenon upon its release as a single last November. Fueled by major BBC Radio airplay, the track topped the UK's Dance chart while also reaching the top 30 on the overall Singles tally.
Pendulum also earned a barrage of critical approbation. "Pendulum's transonic assault is explosive," enthused DJ. "It's a cosmic symphonic rock beast that'll fill stadiums. Watch them soar." The Sun praised the band as "the Prodigy for the Noughties," and Q Magazine agreed, declaring, "There's a strong whiff of vintage Prodigy about this bullish Aussie dance crew with a serious guitar fetish." No less an authority than the venerable Kerrang! summed it up: "Pendulum have that intriguing cross-over appeal that will make them superstars."

biography
Pendulum formed in their home-town of Perth (Western Australia) in 2002, when producers Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen teamed up with acclaimed local DJ Paul 'Elhornet' Harding. While their individual formative roots ranged from producing drum & bass, breakbeat and hardcore, to playing in metal and punk bands, their comparable talents proved an unstoppable force when they managed to single-handedly conquer the world of drum & bass in their first 12 months together.
After selling more than 200,000 units of their debut artist album "Hold Your Colour", remixing for such respected artists as The Prodigy, being play-listed and featuring regularly on BBC Radio 1, all whilst continuing to tour the world over as DJs...Pendulum decided that was finally time to take things to the next level - performing live.
The last 12 months have seen Pendulum retreat to the depths of the underground to work on their second album, and to hone and perfect their sound for the live arena. Finding that using purely electronic sounds left something to be desired, they fetched their guitars and worked on perfecting their ultimate sound - an electronic Led Zeppelin, a crunked up Soundgarden, Tool meets Timbaland, combined with the synthetic aggression and sonic purity of the original Pendulum sound.
So apart from that, what the hell are Pendulum all about? In the words of the boys themselves...
"We want our music to be an escape. While technology continues to constantly advance production techniques and (arguably) sound quality, something has been lost in the process - that original sense of self-escape, the idea of leaving yourself open to experience something you don't necessarily find in every-day life. That was the energy we picked up on and liked about electronic music when we first got into it. It felt like the same energy found with bands like Led Zeppelin and even The Beatles, and still occasionally today with bands like Tool, The Mars Volta, Queens Of The Stone Age and others.
To us, it made perfect sense to combine the best of both worlds, but it had to be done in a way that didn't make it sound obvious. In the last 10 years you've had all these bands that tried to cross the bridge by recruiting a turntablist / using a synthesizer on their new single, or electronic artists who just threw an obvious guitar sample into a tune...but eventually it just came across as a gimmick or a bit cheesy. We thought we'd try and do it properly, because to us it still hasn't been done right and there’s a lot of room for exploration.
If you turn on the radio today you'll hear 20 tracks in a row describing someone's every-day life, or songs with a one-line catchphrase chorus about shaking your ass in the club - the production is usually great but when you look deeper, there's nothing behind it...it doesn't offer you anything past its face value. We want to hear something different and exciting, but the material we want to hear isn't getting made. Thats why we spend nearly every waking moment trying to create music that takes you out of this universe - for ourselves and anyone else who wants to listen."
