Planet Asia is well known throughout the hip-hop community. As one half of the duo Cali Agents (Planet Asia & Rasco), he has been tearing up airwaves and stages around the globe for a number of years. Numerous banging 12-inch single releases such as “Place of Birth” (ABB 1999), “Pure Coke” (Interscope 2002), and “The Golden Age” (Threshold 2003) to name a few, ensured his place in hip hop history. The Source Magazine named him First Round Draft Pick and gave him Independent Album of the Year credit for “How The West Was One” by the Cali Agents for the year 2000.
Planet Asia was even nominated for a 2002 Grammy Award for his collaboration with hip-hop diva Mystic on “W.” Even multi-platinum selling rock super group Linkin Park called upon Planet Asia for his vocal skills for their highly successful “Re-Animation” LP on the song “Ppr:Kut.” Asia also has collaborated with everyone from Black Thought of The Roots, BT, the Dub Pistols, Talib Kweli, & Ghostface Killah of Wu-Tang Clan to name a few.
Early 2004 saw the release of Planet Asia’s debut LP “The Grand Opening” to much acclaim and fanfare, securing another Independent Album of the Year credit in The Source Magazine. He founded Gold Chain Music with Walt Liquor and took the show on the road with the sold-out Gold Chain Music Tour Europe in November 2004.
2006 finds Planet Asia bringing you all the material you could ever want. First, "The Medi-Cali Trilogy," a three-part series from Fresno's finest. The first installment, "The Sickness," features production by Khalil, Jake One, D-Cyde, & Amp Live with guest appearances from Moka Only, Rasco, Flii Stylz, Mitchy Slick & Killa Ben. For part two, "The Diagnosis," Asia hooks up with the West Coast Mixtape King, DJ Warrior, who has been putting out nonstop heat for the past few years.
The final piece of the puzzle and what you've all been waiting for, "The Medicine," is produced entirely by Evidence and features guest appearances by Black Thought, Prodigy, Strong Arm Steady, Dilated Peoples, Defari, DJ Babu, DJ Revolution, & Shake Da Mayor. The album drops September 19th on ABB Records. Make sure you pick up all three parts of the series!
