Portishead: Machine Gun video + song
From their hugely anticipated new album, Third, Portishead have just released the first video for "Machine Gun." Featuring grainy blue-tinted footage highlighting each piece of the song's peformance, the video urges viewers to get wrapped up in Beth Gibbons' evocative vocals and the closing chilly synth lines. The haunting voyeuristic scenes match perfectly to the beats that seem to embody a "machine gun" atmosphere. Third is to be released on Mercury/Island on April 29th 2008 and will be their fourth album in total - their first since 1998's Roseland NYC live. We gave "Machine Gun" music video by Portishead a listen and yeah, we like it. Let's see if it will 'grow' on us. (March, 2008) Ahh look a song which should have received more attention. A pity...
