The Punisher: The Album 'THE PUNISHER: THE ALBUM' album

Lions Gate Films, a division of Lions Gate Entertainment (AMEX and TSX: LGF), and Marvel Enterprises (NYSE: MVL) has tapped prominent independent label Wind-up Records to produce the soundtrack for its upcoming theatrical film The Punisher, starring Thomas Jane and John Travolta, based on the top-selling Marvel Comic series. The soundtrack will include several platinum artists and will be released on March 23rd, 2004 in conjunction with the April 16th, 2004 nationwide theatrical release of The Punisher.

The first single from The Punisher soundtrack is "Step Up" by the Dallas-based metal group Drowning Pool. Drowning Pool's debut album, "Sinner," went platinum within six weeks of its release, and the group is currently at work on its much-anticipated sophomore disc. The Punisher soundtrack continues the relationship between Marvel Comics, home of The Punisher, and Wind-up Records, which also released the soundtrack to Marvel Comic film Daredevil.

The Punisher brings to the screen one of Marvel's top-selling solo comic books and a marquee character whose popularity parallels that of Marvel stars X-Men, Spider-Man, and the Fantastic Four. A former Delta Force operative, The Punisher has no superpowers to battle the evil he sees - only his fierce intelligence, his years of combat experience and, above all, his iron determination to avenge those wronged by society's villains. The Punisher marks the directorial debut of Jonathan Hensleigh, renowned screenwriter of genre blockbusters The Rock, Armageddon and Die Hard: With a Vengeance. The film stars Tom Jane (61*, Deep Blue Sea) as Frank Castle, the Punisher, squaring off against superstar John Travolta (Pulp Fiction, Face/Off) as the story's formidable villain. Produced by Marvel Studios' CEO Avi Arad (The Hulk, Spider-Man, X-Men) and producer Gale Anne Hurd (The Hulk, Aliens, Terminator2), the film will be released nationwide on April 16th.
