With excitement building towards the March 10th U.S. release of their third album, SLIPWAY FIRES - featuring the Top 5 UK single "Wire To Wire" - London-based Razorlight will return to the states for two weeks of tour dates and promotions next month. The tour will open in Boston on Monday, March 9th (at Middle East), then on to New York the next night for the official album release celebration at Hiro Ballroom March 10th. March 11th, Razorlight will perform on The Late Show with David Letterman.

After shows in Philadelphia, Chicago, Nashville, and Atlanta, Razorlight will return to the SXSW (South By Southwest) Music and Media Conference in Austin, Texas - where they were discovered five years ago in 2004. In addition to a night time gig at Stubb's opening for PJ Harvey, Razorlight will perform at one of Filter magazine's "Revenge Of Cedar Street" daytime showcases at the Cedar Street Courtyard on 4th Street in Austin, open to all badge holders. (Please see complete itinerary below.)

Razorlight's U.S. television premiere of "Wire To Wire" took place on NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly Friday, February 6th. The video for "Wire To Wire" - directed by two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Stephen Frears (The Queen, The Grifters, High Fidelity) - was recently added to MusicRemedy.

    Razorlight

Razorlight - principal songwriter and mastermind, front-man and lead singer/guitarist Johnny Borrell, guitarist/vocalist Björn Ågnen, bassist Carl Dalemo, and drummer Andy Burrows - have been charming UK fans for nearly five years, since the summer 2004 release of their debut album, Up All Night, on the Universal International imprint. After working the club scene, they soon found themselves playing large scale venues around the UK and Europe as guests of Queen (with Paul Rodgers), Oasis, Richard Ashcroft, and the Rolling Stones.

Two years later in the summer 2006, their self-titled album Razorlight rose to #3 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. The album spun off three hit singles on the Continent: "In The Morning" (#3 UK), "Before I Fall To Pieces" (Top 20), and "America," which went to #1 in the physical and digital marketplace. The following year (2007) closed out with two BRIT Awards nominations for Razorlight, for Best British Band and Best Song ("America"). The pace continued at the annual NME Awards, with Razorlight receiving nominations for Best Band and Best Album. At the same time, Johnny Borrell has become the subject of increasing media scrutiny in England. In 2007, he graced the cover of British GQ's 10th Annual Men of The Year issue, alongside Lewis Hamilton, Orlando Bloom, Sir Michael Caine and Gordon Ramsay. The band has appeared on the covers of British Vogue, NME, and Q magazines.

    more Razorlight information
After captivating British fans for more than four years, London-based Razorlight - fronted by lead singer/guitarist Johnny Borrell - now turns its attention to the U.S. as the newest addition to the Mercury Records roster in America. Razorlight's third album, SLIPWAY FIRES, released November in the UK on Universal's Vertigo label, will be issued in the U.S. on Mercury in March 2009, coinciding with a major North American tour schedule. First single "Wire To Wire," has already reached Top 5 on the UK national chart.

Since their formation in 2002 - and the UK release of their debut album in the summer 2004, Up All Night, on the Universal International imprint, Razorlight have become one of the biggest UK bands, selling over 3 million albums. Discovered in the clubs, they soon found themselves playing large scale venues around the UK and Europe as guests of such headliners as U2, The Who, Queen (with Paul Rodgers), Oasis, Richard Ashcroft, and the Rolling Stones. Their reputation as an amazing live band soon had them playing arena tours and headlining festivals, including the main band slot at Reading Festival 2007 alongside on successive days The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins.

At the same time, Johnny Borrell has become the subject of increasing media scrutiny in England. In 2007, he graced the cover of British GQ's 10th Annual Men of The Year issue, alongside Lewis Hamilton, Orlando Bloom, Sir Michael Caine and Gordon Ramsay and appeared on the cover of British Vogue, one of the few male stars to have done so. The band were also regulars on the cover of the NME and have twice been featured as the cover artist for Q Magazine.

Razorlight - songwriter/lead singer and guitarist Johnny Borrell, guitarist/vocalist Björn Ågren, bassist Carl Dalemo, and drummer Andy Burrows - made a first impression on American audiences in 2004, with a well-received premiere at South By Southwest (SXSW).

The following year (2007) closed out with two nominations for Razorlight at the annual BRIT Awards, for Best British Band and Best Song ("America"). The pace continued at the annual NME Awards, with Razorlight receiving nominations for Best Band and Best Album (Razorlight). Q Magazine described the band's new album as "a triumph".
