Rivers Cuomo - Alone 2

Weezer's frontman, songwriter/visionary Rivers Cuomo releases a very special album of home demos. "Buddy Holly" became a Weezer song, while others remained in his personal vault. A true treasure chest for Weezer fans and fans of great Alternative Rock songs.

"Alone II: The Home Recordings Of Rivers Cuomo", will be released on November 25th via Geffen/Interscope records.

Says Rivers of the collection, "This is a cd of my favorite home demos from '92-'07, featuring a lot of never heard before songs, a few covers, a few songs from my unfinished rock musical "Songs From the Black Hole" and my original demo for "Buddy Holly".

"I've always loved these recordings for what they are, the fun and creative sounds someone makes when they think they're alone. Of course, I've never been totally alone and with a lot of these tracks you can hear the sounds of other people too, people who, perhaps, were also famous rock stars and also thought they were alone. They were wrong to think that. I was never truly "alone": we were always together."

"To make this clear I've included a 36 second track called "I Wish You Had An Axe Guitar." I called it that because it's what I say on the track. It's a tape of Justin, Eric and me at a rehearsal of our first band, Fury. These days you might call it a "field recording."

"Alone II" has been an amazingly cool and creative project to work on. Listening to this now, I hear a wonderful journey of thought and feeling and I realise that I'm simply stoked to be on this ship we call Weezer, playing and partying and bound to return as heroes, or with another really cool pop record. I'm just sort of honoured to be faced with the challenge."

The original "Alone" compilation featured unreleased songs and demos dating back before the band's debut "Blue Album" all the way up to the recording sessions for their latest "Red Album" and even included tracks from the band's unreleased space-themed rock opera "Songs From The Black Hole".
